When MaryLou Aukeman’s husband Owen and their sons designed and built the Royal Park campus decades ago, she knew one day she’d live at the campus herself. “There was no doubt,” MaryLou says. “My husband and I were both so in love with it here already.” …

Royal Park Place residents Howard and Myrl Stephenson may have passed away, but their children still talk about the family’s excellent experience during the decade their parents lived at the campus. “I’ve spent my entire career in healthcare,” Christy says, “and I would choose to move here for my own care because of how they treated my parents.” She laughs and says, “We’re all lined up to live here one day.”…

Marvin and Sharon's decision ultimately came down to thinking about where they would feel the most care and support. “One of the important considerations was the evident high level of caring and nurturing that is the essence of Royal Park Place, which is established and maintained by the facility leadership and influenced and supported by the Christian nature and non-profit character of the organization.”…

“What I learned through that experience was how supportive the hospice team is,” Carol says. “Everyone seems to think hospice care is just about end of life. But it’s not. It’s about quality of life. And the sooner you get these services, the better.” Carol was grateful for the quality care her mother received, from CNAs that came to bathe her and make sure she was comfortable, to nurses who provided helpful medical care.…
