Roger Semankovich wasn’t feeling well. He had seen the doctor a few times, but he was always told that he would be fine. Roger didn’t believe it, especially when he found himself sweating profusely. After months of advocating for himself, a test result showed that Roger was, indeed, in a health crisis and needed Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, typically known as a CABG.

“It’s really surprising,” he says, “but you have to tell the doctor what you need. Always speak up for yourself. I needed triple bypass surgery, and they almost missed it.”

After Roger’s successful CABG and a short hospital stay, he was discharged to Victorian Village Health & Wellness Center for therapy. “I couldn’t ask for anything better,” he says.

Roger loved the Small-House setting, which was not anything he was expecting.

“I was surprised when I saw it,” he said. “I thought, is this really rehab? It looks like someone’s house. And the food was so good, like something you’d order at a restaurant.”

And Roger enjoyed that home-like setting when he had visitors who came to cheer him on to health. “We enjoyed the sitting area—it was perfect for visiting. And everyone who visited said how nice it was.”

He highly compliments the Rehab services he received.

“Everybody was super terrific. So polite and helpful. And I think the private room makes all the difference.”

Roger has returned to his home now, and he’s getting stronger every day. And if he ever needs surgery again, he’d like to plan it around making sure he can get his rehab at Victorian Village. “It’s just the best there is,” he says.
