Providence Residents Choose Fairways Townhome for Active Living

Jean and Mike Munley stand outside the back door at their Fairways Townhome. They have several different birdfeeders and plants on their porch and in their yard, as well as a lovely forest view from their kitchen windows.

These days, Mike has left the workforce, but Jean’s still working part-time. “When I retire,” Jean says, “my goal is going to be to get up in the morning, have my coffee, and sit out here and just enjoy myself. You can’t beat this view.”

Jean and Mike moved to the Fairways at Village Woods from Chicago less than a year ago. A friend of theirs told them about the 55-and-better community, so they came to see for themselves. They knew immediately they wanted to live here.

“Some people want to live on the lake here, but we wanted the trees,” Mike says.

“We may decide down the road to finish our basement. But I don’t have to worry about that yet. They plow your street, your driveway, and then they get out of the truck and shovel up to your front door.”

Townhome living gives residents a private and spacious setting, while still enjoying the freedom of independence. Mike still drives into the city a couple nights a week to host karaoke shows. He’d like to host a karaoke party out of his garage for the Fairways residents.

“We’re really happy here,” Jean says. “I’m glad we moved here together, when it was still our choice and we’re able to enjoy it. We’re not moving anywhere else.”
